Book Fuel: An online auction raising money for National Energy Action

Like many, I have been watching the recent energy crisis unfold with a mixture of horror and fury. Already the cost of living is increasing, with far too many households left struggling to make ends meet, and with an energy price cap rise coming again in April, things are only going to get worse. So, I decided to do something about it.

Meet Book Fuel, the online auction raising money for National Energy Action and their sister charity Energy Action Scotland, who work to end fuel poverty in the UK.

Book Fuel is offering the chance to win a variety of prizes, including signed books, manuscript critiques, and mentoring opportunities. There are signed books from the likes of Beth O’Leary, David Nicholls, LJ Ross, Jennifer Saint, and Sarah Hilary. And there’s Book Fuel for writers too, including manuscript feedback from HarperCollins Editorial Director Phoebe Morgan and Hodder Editor Bethany Wickington, plus numerous authors offering feedback on your submission package, including Nikki Smith and Kate Morrison.

What started as a Sunday night tweet has grown into an auction with over 100 lots. Donations have poured in from across the publishing industry, and I am so grateful to everyone who has come together to make Book Fuel a reality.

The auction starts at midnight on Friday 25th February, closing on Monday 7th March at 11:59pm. Bids should be placed in the comments on each auction lot, starting at £3. Winning bidders will be asked to make a donation via the JustGiving page once the auction closes, with all proceeds going directly to National Energy Action, who will split the proceeds with their sister charity Energy Action Scotland.

All donations via the JustGiving page are final, and anyone can make a donation without bidding on an item. Any donations are greatly appreciated. You can sign up here for email updates on the auction and to check out the goodies on offer before the auction goes live.

Thank you for helping Book Fuel make a difference!
