Today I noticed that Girl, Lost has 130 ratings on Amazon. The Diary was published almost 2 years ago and only has 137 ratings, and The Girl Across the Street has 132 after almost 18 months since publication.
What does this mean in real terms? Well, it means that more people are reading Girl, Lost, and more of those readers are leaving a review for it. Amazon did recently make it easier for reviewers to leave a star rating without having to write anything, so perhaps that has had some influence, but considering Girl, Lost has only been out since May this year, I’m absolutely thrilled that so many more people have been reading and enjoying it.
It also means that I’m making more money. Money is often a dirty word in publishing, and while I would continue to write even if it never earned me a penny, I have bills to pay (and pets to spoil!) just like everyone else, and more sales means I am one step closer to my dream of becoming a full time writer. I hope anyone who reads or has read my earlier books can see how my writing has grown, and I hope it continues to do so. Writing is a craft, one I will never stop learning about and improving. So thank you to all of my readers, even the critics, who help me want to be a better author and reach my goals.
Just 2 months until The Wake is released! Time really does fly. And I have some exciting news to share soon, so watch this space!
